Learning Polish with Joanna

Background and Experience
Joanna is originally from Poland. She studied law at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland.
In 2006 she moved to the Netherlands and discovered that her passion for the Polish language could become her new vocation.
In 2013, she began giving private lessons. Since then, she has helped many students develop their skills in Polish.
Now she gives both private and group lessons to adults and also to children.

Listening and adapting
With Joanna, the students are the focus ; she listens carefully to their needs and adapts her method accordingly.
“I don’t use a standard method. My method is just listening to the student. Intuition and heart. That’s important to me.”

Advice
For those interested in learning Polish, Joanna has some advice:
– Don’t compare Polish with other languages, especially English !!! Each language has its own unique characteristics.
– Patience and repetition are essential. Regular practice is important, even if it is only five minutes a day.
– Find the child in yourself, dare to make mistakes and don’t be afraid to speak. Mistakes are instructive.
Joanna emphasizes that learning Polish takes energy and time, but with the right motivation and commitment it is definitely possible ! She encourages her students to be patient and persevere.

If you ask Joanna why learning a new language is important, she likes to quote Nelson Mandela :
“If you talk to a person in a language he understands, it goes into his head. If you talk to him in his own language, it goes into his heart.”
